The best of times, the worst of times ...

We know more than ever but stand on the brink of disaster.

  • Space science is serving up new mysteries, with more players in the game and exo-planets (NASA, 2021) turning up like seashells on the beach.

  • We're starting to bio-engineer ourselves and manufacture tissue (McMillen, 2021).

  • And we're venturing into a new era of transparent, decentralized blockchain technologies that could bring the third world out of the financial colonialism trap ( Harnessing, 2021).

BUT we're teetering on the brink of:

  • Gulf stream collapse (Lao, 2021) and other climate change horrors.

  • Mass extinctions. (Kottasova, 2020).

  • And threats of nuclear war (Sheng, 2021)

Can we really be so collectively stupid? Was Q right and Picard wrong? (Farpoint Gambit 2.)

I have to live in the hope implied by humans rebounding from near self-destruction faster than Vulcans. (Vulcans fear The Humans.)

Here's hoping we don't push our luck too far.
